At Studio T+L we know the theatres we design are vitally important tools for the artists using them. As theatre consultants we focus all of our experience on designing innovative performing arts facilities that support the work of our theatre colleagues. Our mission is to share our understanding of each theatre’s unique requirements with the rest of the building design team. We partner with artists, architects, engineers and acousticians to realize a project’s goals through imaginative, cost-conscious solutions. This collaboration results in an intimate, lively and technically superior space for audience members and artists to share the experience of live performance.
We believe that the design of a theatre is as much a process, requiring the active involvement of the theatre's staff, as it is a product delivered to the theatre company at the end of construction. We seek the theatre company's requirements and desires, input and opinions, review and feedback throughout the design and construction process.
Studio T+L also designs unique architectural and installation lighting projects for a wide range of clients. By collaborating with each architect to understand the building’s volume and form, we develop a lighting design specifically tailored to each project’s needs. We bring an intimate knowledge of the physics and psychology of light, a theatrical sensibility, and an extensive history of successful projects to every design we undertake. Our work combines design artistry and technical skill with real world issues of energy efficiency, maintenance, constructability, and code compliance to provide a complete lighting design.
